Volunteer Opportunities

WCHS relies on volunteer participation at all levels of its operation. It encourages an environment of mutual respect, where board members, staff, and volunteers work to support the WCHS mission. This could involve greeting visitors, decorating for our annual Festival of Trees, or helping with exhibit research.

Volunteers help to strengthen WCHS and play an active role in its success.

Current areas of need:

  • Festival of Trees greeters and attendants

  • Researchers - Put your detective skills to use with archival and exhibit research.

  • Newspaper clippers - help us find and save newspaper articles to build our research files.

  • Cleaners - Don’t have much time but still want to help? We can always use help keeping our galleries, events rooms, and even collections spaces tidy.

  • Volunteer by calling, emailing (outreach@wrighthistory.org), or through our VolunteerMatch page here

Annual events:

  • FESTIVAL OF TREES: Help create a festive mood by greeting guests or assisting with programs during our annual Festival of Trees, which features over 75 decorated trees. Gallery attendants, greeters, and more are needed each holiday season. Email us to sign up to decorate a tree or check back in November to sign up as a volunteer.

  • WRIGHT COUNTY FAIR: Volunteers gain free entry into the fair for day when they sign up for a four-hour shift welcoming visitors in one of our historic buildings.

  • ONLINE AUCTION: Our biggest fundraiser of the year requires help requesting and collecting unique items, prepping for photography, and possible helping with online responses.
