The first gallery you enter when you visit the museum focuses entirely on one subject that illustrates bigger ideas about Wright County.

Current exhibit:

What’s YOUR Story: Wright County and the U.S. 250th

We know that Wright County is not 250 years old, but we all still have a story to tell about the changes its seen. This exhibit highlights oral history interviews with Wright County residents about their time living in the county. They share what it was like going to school in a rural schoolhouse, or how rural electrification affected their families. Other interviews remanence on working at a local bar that is beloved by many, or working for their parent’s business. We have clips of interviews for you to listen to, or if you prefer to read them, there are clips of transcripts available. Please contact our Archivist if you would like access to the full interview.

We all have a story to tell and we do not only preserve the past, but preserve the present. Sharing your story will be significant in years to come, and there’s nothing better than hearing it straight from the source. Interested in sharing your Wright County connection? Contact our archivist, Marisa, at archivist@wrighthistory.org.

The schoolhouse area during Festival of Trees

Hands on History gallery

The Hands On History Gallery is just that - a place where you can touch and experience history. Share the mysteries of old telephone technology with those too young to remember a rotary dial. Sit in a wooden desk in the one-room schoolhouse. Get behind the wheel of a Buffalo Police Department car with working lights. Visitors can order a meal from Red’s Cafe. And more!

This gallery is also home to our annual Festival of Trees. The festival runs December through the first week of January each year and features beautiful trees decorated by clubs, businesses, and individuals from around the county.
